My Approach

You are more than your “presenting concern” – my goal is to understand you as a human first and foremost and tailor my techniques to fit your specific needs. Utilizing somatic and cognitive approaches to identify/strengthen mind-body connection, I guide clients in exploring how our emotions become expressed in the body while also increasing awareness of unhelpful thought patterns. Together, we’ll also examine through a multicultural and trauma-informed lens how past experiences influence your current thoughts and behaviors. Because mental health is inseparable from the influence of politics, I am also interested in exploring with you how various forms of oppression may have impacted your internal and external worlds.

What to Expect

Painful and confusing experiences are an inevitable part of life. As opposed to avoiding discomfort, I support my clients in building self-trust by increasing their capacity to tolerate difficult emotions. I aim to meet each client where they’re at in their mental health journey, whether this is their first time or tenth time in a therapy space. I believe that meaningful healing cannot occur in isolation, so I strive to create a warm and nonjudgemental therapeutic relationship with my clients to establish genuine trust. In sessions, you can expect a balance of support and gentle challenging to help facilitate your growth.

More About Me

I identify as a queer femme who is eager to work with folks from all walks of life. Creating art plays a significant role in my life, so you can expect to possibly see art and writing exercises find their way into our sessions! I received my Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Education (MEd) in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to my master’s program, I studied Psychology and Gender Studies at UCLA.
