How I Work

Meaning is not a treasure to find, but an experience to create. Whether you’re questioning your identity, dreading the job you once admired, or mourning the death of a loved one, your pain can become a source of meaning. As an existential therapist, I view challenges through the themes of anxiety, loss, and freedom. I specialize in supporting people through life transitions, relationship issues, and identity concerns. Our goal is to explore how these stressors can become opportunities for personal and relational growth. I also work from a cognitive-behavioral stance to make therapy an active rather than passive process. This might include breaking habits that no longer serve you or identifying the thoughts that incessantly criticize you. We can also examine how these thoughts reflect the social and political messages that make you hide parts of yourself.

What to Expect

Humor and transparency! I believe that growth is inseparable from being honest with ourselves and others. The most powerful, yet simple tool I have learned about counseling is to embrace the present moment. Any thoughts or feelings that arise can become our focus for the session. While starting therapy can be daunting, I always welcome laughter and spontaneity to lighten the energy!

More About Me

I identify as a queer, cisgender man. Since college I have worked as a crisis counselor, which sparked my love for collaboration and relationship building. Connecting with people at their most vulnerable state taught me to never underestimate the power of human interaction. Speaking to people on the LGBTQIA+ line inspired me to support queer people in greater capacities. This life-changing experience led me to Columbia University, where I earned my master’s in counseling. I bring these skills with hope of leaning into your world!
